As a part of its Indian University Support Initiative, Herbert Smith LLP in association with the WB National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) is delighted to present the second edition of the NUJS Herbert Smith National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition.

The competition will be held on the 19th, 20th and 21st February 2010 at the NUJS campus in Kolkata. As previously, the moot problem this year is based on the commercial laws of India with a strong international element. Although the forum for the moot problem will be the Calcutta High Court the problem will be based on concepts which have an international character. This competition will be conducted in accordance with the NUJS Moot Court Rules.

Prize money:

  • Winners: Rs. 30,000
  • Runners up: Rs. 20,000
  • Best Oralist: Rs. 15,000
  • Best Memorial: Rs. 15,000

Chris Parsons, chairman of India group, Hardeep Nahal, partner at Herbert Smith and Professor James Edelman, University of Oxford and Barrister, One Essex Court will travel to NUJS, Kolkata to be among the judges for the semi-final and final rounds of the moot court competition. Other judges will include pre-eminent members of the bar and bench.
