Law graduates from Irish universities who wish to train as lawyers in England are eligible to attend the same Legal Practice Course (LPC) as law graduates from English universities, provided that they meet the requirements of the guidelines set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Students at Irish universities are advised to contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority regarding possible exceptions from the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). The Solicitors Regulation Authority will decide on exemptions from the Graduate Diploma in Law (a pre-LPC course) on a case-by-case basis. Students will need to send a transcript of their degree to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Non-law graduates from Irish universities who wish to train as lawyers in England, like non-law graduates from English universities, are required to sit and pass the GDL and then the LPC.
