"While I was studying law I saw the position of campus manager as a great opportunity to get to know the legal profession and experience the excitement of life in a City firm.
The role included liaising between Herbert Smith and the university and publicising Herbert Smith events, which I attended and provided feedback on in my campus manager reports.
Seeing how much time, skill and effort Herbert Smith devoted to graduate recruitment highlighted their dedication to potential young lawyers. They showed commitment to me - and other students - from the beginning, so I knew that if I chose to work at the firm (which I eventually did), I would not simply be 'another cog in the machine'.
The best thing about being a campus manager was that I immediately felt part of the Herbert Smith team. Everyone I met was kind and welcoming. Even the senior partner, David Gold, talked to me about my position as a campus manager in a lift! One of the highlights was an invitation to the Christmas Party. The atmosphere was incredible - not simply a gathering of colleagues but friends."
