“Herbert Smith began recruiting from law schools in India in April 2007 and visited the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bangalore at that time. I heard about the firm through the on campus recruitment committee.
The internship interview process, although rigorous, gave me ample opportunity to interact with the interviewers and discuss numerous issues and subjects. It was apparent they were looking at my process of analysis rather than purely at my answers, which calmed my nerves.
Apart from the social events organised for us, which helped me get to know people, the internship also introduced me to the workings of the firm itself. Exposure to both a contentious seat and a transactional one was invaluable. The firm assigned me to partner supervisors, associate mentors and trainee buddies, which gave me an all-round view.
I would definitely recommend the internship programme to people considering training at a UK law firm. It lets you find out what it would be like to live in London and work at Herbert Smith. For anyone moving so far away from home, it is essential to answer these questions before making an informed decision.”
